Design iterations & final concept

My first complete character, made in 6 weeks part-time as a portfolio piece at The Game Assembly.

Songbird, the nameless travelling bard, is a character based on my own writing. My goal with this piece was to take her from concept to finished, rendered model.

All of her clothes were simulated in Marvelous Designer before fleshing them out in ZBrush. Everything else was either made from scratch in ZBrush, or modelled in Maya. Maya was also used to make her lowpoly. Baked in Marmoset Toolbag 3.

Textured in Substance Painter. The patterns on her coat and top were made in Substance Designer.

Rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 3, using foliage that my classmate Johan Jergner-Ekervik was kind enough to lend me! Check out his awesome stuff here: https://www.artstation.com/johanjergner! The ground texture is by Quixel.

45 636 tris, with four texture sets (three 2048x2048 & one 1024x1024).
